Key Non-Negotiable Requirements

We are specifically looking for a true MySQL expert who also has:

  • Proven professional experience developing reports with JasperReports or Jaspersoft.

  • Advanced expertise in MySQL performance analysis, tuning, and optimization.

  • Strong experience using AI-assisted coding tools and LLMs as part of their daily software development and troubleshooting workflow.

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Database & Reporting Engineer who combines deep MySQL expertise with hands-on experience creating and maintaining reports using JasperReports or Jaspersoft.

The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, advanced SQL knowledge, and extensive experience optimizing MySQL databases for complex reporting workloads.

You will collaborate closely with Product Management, Software Engineering, and Quality Assurance teams to define reporting requirements, improve database performance, and integrate reports into web applications.

This position also requires someone who actively uses AI and LLM-based tools to write, investigate, troubleshoot, and improve software.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain reports using JasperReports or Jaspersoft with MySQL data sources.

  • Write and optimize complex SQL queries for reporting and analytical requirements.

  • Analyze and improve MySQL database performance.

  • Review query execution plans, indexing strategies, and database structures.

  • Troubleshoot database performance, reporting, and data-quality issues.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business and reporting requirements.

  • Work with Product Management to refine data definitions and reporting context.

  • Integrate reports into applications developed with Angular and Node.js.

  • Collaborate with Software Engineers and QA teams to support high-quality releases.

  • Document reporting solutions, database optimizations, and technical decisions.

  • Develop new ad hoc and self-service reporting capabilities.

  • Use AI-assisted coding tools and LLMs to create, review, investigate, and troubleshoot code.

  • Evaluate and introduce new tools that improve reporting and database processes.

Required Qualifications

  • Proven professional experience developing reports with JasperReports, Jaspersoft, or Jaspersoft Studio.

  • Expert-level knowledge of MySQL.

  • Strong experience with MySQL performance analysis, tuning, and optimization.

  • Advanced SQL skills and experience writing complex queries.

  • Experience analyzing query execution plans.

  • Strong knowledge of database indexing strategies.

  • Solid understanding of data modeling and database normalization.

  • Ability to diagnose and resolve complex database performance issues.

  • Professional experience with JavaScript and/or TypeScript.

  • Strong hands-on experience using AI-assisted coding tools and LLMs for software development.

  • Experience using AI tools to investigate errors, troubleshoot code, optimize queries, and accelerate development.

  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently in a remote and collaborative environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with iReport.

  • Working knowledge of Angular.

  • Familiarity with Node.js development.

  • Understanding of REST API design principles.

  • Experience with Git or similar version control systems.

  • Familiarity with agile software development methodologies.

  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.

  • Knowledge of Object-Relational Mapping tools, particularly Sequelize.

  • Previous experience with medical software, Electronic Medical Records, or medical billing systems.
