SQL & Reporting Software Engineer (LATAM Remote)

Position Overview

We are looking for a proactive and communicative Software Engineer or Database Engineer (DBA) with strong expertise in SQL and reporting from SQL data sources. The ideal candidate will be highly engaged, self-driven, and capable of working independently in a remote, fast-paced environment.

This role focuses on building and maintaining high-quality SQL reports, optimizing MySQL database performance, and collaborating closely with product and engineering teams to ensure accurate and actionable data delivery. Experience with JasperSoft or Jaspersoft Studio is a nice-to-have, not a requirement. A strong background in SQL development and the ability to integrate reporting into a TypeScript-based codebase are essential.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain reports from MySQL data sources.
• Create efficient and optimized SQL queries for complex reporting needs.
• Improve and tune MySQL database performance for analytical workloads.
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to gather and define reporting requirements.
• Integrate reports into TypeScript-based web applications (Angular/NodeJS environment).
• Document database structures, optimizations, and reporting logic.
• Suggest and implement continuous improvements in automation, self-service reporting, and data quality.
• Maintain clear, consistent, and proactive communication with the team.

Required Qualifications

• Strong experience with SQL and MySQL performance optimization.
• Proven ability to design and maintain SQL-based reporting systems.
• Experience troubleshooting query performance and database scalability.
• Knowledge of data modeling, indexing strategies, and normalization.
• Solid understanding of JavaScript or TypeScript integration with backend data.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English.
• Demonstrated proactivity, accountability, and engagement in previous roles.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with JasperSoft / Jaspersoft Studio or iReport.
• Familiarity with Angular and NodeJS.
• Experience using REST APIs, ORM frameworks (Sequelize), and version control (Git).
• Exposure to Docker/Kubernetes environments.
• Experience in medical software, particularly EMR or billing systems, is a plus.
