Important: The client is prioritizing candidates with hands-on experience in Hyvä and Hyvä Checkout.
If Hyvä experience is not available, profiles must have proven experience integrating with Luma, and as a last alternative, strong front-end integration experience using React.

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Senior Magento Developer to join our development team. The ideal candidate has strong expertise in Magento 2 / Adobe Commerce, with solid front-end and back-end skills, and the ability to lead projects from concept to delivery.

You will be responsible for building, optimizing, and maintaining scalable e-commerce solutions that enhance user experience and support business growth. This role requires strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and close collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development, customization, and implementation of Magento themes, modules, and extensions.

  • Design and implement custom features and integrations using Magento APIs, following best practices in PHP and Magento.

  • Execute Hyvä theme migration and ongoing maintenance, ensuring performance, responsiveness, accessibility, and alignment with UX and business requirements.

  • Manage Hyvä Checkout implementation and maintenance, optimizing conversion, performance, and secure integrations with payment and shipping services.

  • Customize front-end components using HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, including Less.js, Grunt, and RequireJS.

  • Develop and optimize back-end functionality, including database queries, caching, indexing, and data migration using PHP and MySQL.

  • Integrate Magento with third-party services such as payment gateways (Bluesnap, PayPal, Stripe), shipping providers, and marketing tools via REST APIs.

  • Diagnose and resolve performance issues using caching solutions like Varnish, Redis, and front-end optimization techniques.

  • Apply security best practices, ensuring PCI compliance and secure handling of customer data.

  • Collaborate with product owners, designers, and QA teams to deliver high-quality e-commerce solutions.

  • Mentor junior developers and provide technical leadership.

  • Use Git for version control, manage dependencies with Composer, and support automated deployment pipelines.

  • Provide ongoing maintenance, updates, and technical support for the Magento platform.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience with Magento 2 / Adobe Commerce Cloud.

  • Strong expertise in PHP, MySQL/MariaDB, Nginx, Varnish, ElasticSearch/OpenSearch, RabbitMQ, Redis/Valkey, Docker, HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript.

  • Solid experience developing Magento modules, themes, and REST API integrations.

  • Experience working with Hyvä themes (strongly preferred).

  • Strong front-end development skills (Less.js, Grunt, RequireJS) and back-end optimization (caching, indexing, database performance).

  • Deep understanding of Magento architecture, including MVC, dependency injection, and EAV data model.

  • Proficiency with Git, Magento CLI, Composer, and DevOps practices.

  • Strong understanding of e-commerce platforms, payment gateways, and SEO best practices.

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in distributed teams.

  • Experience leading projects and mentoring junior developers.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Adobe Commerce / Magento 2 Certified Developer.

  • Proven experience migrating Magento stores from Luma to Hyvä.

  • Hands-on experience implementing and maintaining Hyvä Checkout.

  • Experience with multi-currency and multi-language Magento architectures.

  • Experience working with Agile/Scrum methodologies.

  • Experience with enterprise-level Adobe Commerce Cloud environments.

  • Knowledge of Azure or other cloud platforms.

  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Docker or Jenkins.

  • Experience with other e-commerce platforms or frameworks is a plus.
